About Me

Michael Costa is a collaborative and forward-thinking production leader who thrives where artistry meets organization. Drawing from a foundation in design, technology, and storytelling, he brings both creative sensitivity and operational precision to every project he undertakes.

Most recently, Michael served as Director of Production for Boston Lyric Opera, overseeing large-scale productions including Carousel (2025), Madame Butterfly (2023), and Omar—the 2023 Pulitzer Prize winner in Music. He then joined Reagle Music Theatre as Production Manager, guiding a full summer season of large-scale musicals and leading teams through every facet of production, from first design meetings to final bows.

Earlier in his career, Michael led production efforts at National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene, where he managed Harmony: A New Musical (Barry Manilow/Warren Carlyle) and The Garden of the Finzi-Continis in partnership with New York City Opera. He also served as the Lead Theatrical Consultant for the restoration of Edmund J. Safra Hall at the Museum of Jewish Heritage—a project that reflected his dedication to the long-term craft and infrastructure of live performance.

Michael’s approach is rooted in clarity, collaboration, and respect for every contributor in the process. Whether managing a multimillion-dollar production or reimagining a space for performance, he sees each project as an opportunity to build systems that let artistry thrive. He currently serves as Secretary of the USITT New England Board of Directors and continues to champion communication and excellence across the performing arts community.
